The New Guy

My soldier made it to Ft. Jackson. Not only did he make it there, he was so excited when he arrived to find out that he knew several of the guys that checked in when he did today.
He was so blessed last summer to be in a group of guys that instantly bonded and made friendships (most of them finished all three Phases of CH-BOLC last summer and are currently serving Active Duty.) He wasn't sure what to expect jumping in this summer at Phase 2. He knew that he would be entering into a group that had already been together for six weeks, and wasn't looking forward to being the "new guy."
Scott called me from his layover in Atlanta to tell me that he had already met a guy in the airport that was on his way to CH-BOLC, too. He was also a member of the Guard and had also been there last summer. By the time this afternoon got here and he checked in his room, he was completely surprised at how many of the "new guys" he already knew.
I wish I could go to Ft. Jackson..... I can't wait to talk to him tomorrow.

Heading to Memphis...

We are leaving today for Memphis. Scott has an early flight to Columbia in the morning so we are going to stay the night near the airport. The kids are hoping to get a little back to school shopping done. School starts back around here in just a week and a half. UGH! Since I will be starting back to work, I won't be able to make the trip back to Ft. Jackson this year. Eleven hours in the car is just too long of a drive for the weekend and plane tickets are just too expensive right now. I am so sad. I absolutely love it there. Scott will only be there for 3 weeks and 3 days this time, so that won't be too bad. I'm saying that before he leaves, right?
Wow, it feels good to be back online!

Another Phase of CH-BOLC

I feel like such a stranger to this blogging world. So many things have happened in our lives since my last post that, well, I won't bore you with all of those details right now! Here are just a few highlights...
1. God is always faithful.
2. My husband was called to Pastor a local church (awesomely supportive congregation with strong military ties) in December.
3. I'm still the wife of a Seminary (Liberty University) student. Time is flying and we are closer than ever to being finished!
4. I'm still the mom of two fabulous kids. The oldest is driving now!
5. My only sister is a relatively new Army wife and mom living at her new home on post in Fort Bragg, NC.
6. I am gearing up to be alone again for the next few weeks as the Chaplain Candidate in my life leaves for the next phase of CH-BOLC at Ft. Jackson.
7. I still really do miss all of my "Army Chaplain Wife Friends" I made last summer.

Now that I figured out how to get back into this blog, maybe I can stay plugged in for a while! I really miss you guys!
